Durden & Hunt launches Christmas gift appeal with S.M.I.L.E
Estate agency Durden & Hunt has partnered with children’s charity S.M.I.L.E London & Essex to bring Christmas gifts to vulnerable children and families across the region.
The agency has kick-started the campaign with a donation of hundreds of new toys and gifts. From 2nd to 23rd November, its branches in Wanstead, Loughton, Hornchurch, Ongar, Colchester and Leigh-on-Sea will also serve as collection points for the charity’s Christmas Shoebox Gift Appeal.
The appeal supports children and families living in temporary accommodation , including homeless hostels. Gifts will be distributed to partner hostels from the beginning of December.
Members of the public, businesses and community groups can donate new toys and gifts directly, or put together a Christmas shoebox for a chosen age group, from babies and toddlers through to teenagers and parents. All items must be new and in their original packaging or with their original labels.
James Hunt, founder of Durden & Hunt (main image, left), said: “Our branches are at the heart of the communities we serve, so opening our doors as local drop-off points felt like a simple but meaningful way for our clients, colleagues and neighbours to come together and make a difference.”
For every valuation booked during the campaign, Durden & Hunt will also donate £10 to the charity. Clients should mention ‘S.M.I.L.E’ when booking.
Maria Quaife, Chief Executive of S.M.I.L.E London & Essex (main image, right), said: “Last year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our partners and supporters, more than 2,500 children received a Christmas gift and for some, it was the only present they opened on Christmas morning.”
The charity hopes to reach even more children this year, with the partnership helping to bring the appeal into more local communities.
Donations can be made at the six Durden & Hunt branches during the campaign, or at the S.M.I.L.E hub, 40 High Street, Romford, which will accept gifts until 27th November.
Those unable to visit a drop-off point can make a financial donation via smilelondonessex.com/donate-funds .
